| AMLWCH, a seaport town of North Wales, on the north side of the isle of
Anglesey. Inexhaustible copper mines are 2 miles distant, in the Parys
mountain. These were opened in 1768, from which period this town has rapidly
increased. The port, which has been cut out of the rock, can contain 30
vessels, 200 tons burthen each. Population 4629. |
