 Illustration Sail type
The Barque has three or more masts with square sails on all except the mizzen (aft) mast.
The Barquentine has three or more masts with square sails only on the the fore mast
The Brig has two masts with square sails on both masts.
The Brigantine has Two Masts, square sails on the foremast, but not on the aft mast
The Ketch has two masts. The forward is higher. The aft (or mizzen) mast is ahead of the steering position
The Schooner has two or more masts of equal height (or the aft one is higher)
The Sloop has a single masts with one foresail forward of the mast.
