Amlwch History

Amlwch is a small village on the North East tip of the Island of Anglesey just off the North Wales coast.
In the 18th Century it's copper mines on parys mountain were the largest in the world, with copper being exported to many countries from it's small harbour.
The mines resulted in an influx of people while the by-products resulted in a variety of local industry.
When the mines fell silent, ship building became the dominant industry which lasted until well into the 20th Century.
Amlwch's industrial history is being recorded and preserved by:-
Amlwch Industrial Heritage Trust / Ymddiriedolaeth Ddiwydiannol Amlwch
