Philosopical Transactions of the Royal Society Vol 51 Dec 1760

In 1760 Dr John Rutty gave an address to the Royal Society on the " Vitriolic liquors" flowing out of the mountain.

They were said to be of benefit for curing ulcers, itches, internal haemorrhaging ,worms and diarrhoea.
